Wow, how time flies! Today is August 4 and we are at the end of week 3 of the summer holidays. In week 1 I already took you through what we did. Here is an update on what we experienced in week 2 and week 3.
Week 2
Week 2 we started swimming on Monday with my eldest son. He is practicing for his A-diploma. He started in March and is still in his first bath. Because I want to prevent him from forgetting everything after six weeks of vacation, I have chosen to use the Mondays we can as practice hours. Our swimming pool offers an official practice hour during which he can swim without straps. After swimming we colored t-shirts. The shirts are for sale at Action. I did the shirt for the youngest because I enjoyed working with Anakin. He has colored his own t-shirt, although that still needs to be finished, but he doesn't feel like doing that at the moment. ðŸ¤
Of course we went shopping again on Wednesday, but other than that we didn't do much in week 2. On Saturday we went to IKEA. My husband wanted some stuff for his garden office. The youngest loved all the cuddly toys and dived among the pandas.
Week 3
In week 3 we went swimming again on Monday and then had a nice meal with fries.
On Wednesday we went shopping again, but it was so hot that I decided to put on the bigger bath at home. That turned out to be a resounding success, both children loved it and played all afternoon.
Last Friday I went to the Miffy museum with the boys and my mother. Highly recommended for young children! There is plenty to discover, play and see. I could barely get even the youngest into the stroller anymore. Afterwards we went into town for a while, but it was quite warm, so we kept it short. The oldest wanted to eat hamburgers, so we did that too. We immediately scored a new winter coat for Anakin. You have to think ahead a bit!
Weekend
Yesterday we went to friends of ours in Leeuwarden to see their new house. It was super fun. The children slept wonderfully in the car both on the way there and on the way back. At our friends' place they were spoiled with delicious pancakes and fun playing with our friends' children. At the end of the afternoon we went back to Utrecht and got a pizza.
This morning we went for a walk at the Hampoort recreation area in Vleuten. We wanted to see the large tower there, but that turned out not to be that interesting because it is used as a residential house. Both children were very tired, probably due to the oppressive weather, so we went home. We made sandwiches and the youngest went to bed. In the meantime, I made something tasty to take to my aunt in Zevenaar tomorrow and then helped the eldest finish his Luigi package. He doesn't do much with it, but he especially enjoys building together.
The past two weeks were a little less full than the first week, but certainly no less fun.
Photos and privacy
If you are wondering why the children and friends of the children are blurred in the photos, that is a conscious choice on my part. Everyone is of course free to do so and I don't want to attack or attack anyone about this, but my motivation behind this is that it should be their own choice whether they want to have photos on social media later. I don't want the entire internet to be full of their photos just because mom was in an enthusiastic mood. And I'm not even talking about the possible things perverts can do with them, even if they're just regular photos. But again, the people who do that are entirely up to them. Live and let live, I think!
