ChatGPT how do I use it?

ChatGPT how do I use it?

I often use ChatGPT as a sparring partner. What do I mean by that? Well, for example, I provide a list of questions and ask ChatGPT to answer them for a fictional beauty salon, for example. He then fills it in completely, and based on those answers I create a logo. You can even ask questions like, "What types of treatments do you offer?" "What is your address?" "What's your phone number?" and “What is your website and email address?” This way you can easily create texts for an entire site.

Normally you wouldn't do this for a real assignment, but for a fictional company it is a time-saving method. For a real assignment, the owner of the salon would of course provide all the information and preferably also photo material. It's always better to use real photos than stock photos. You can then adjust the texts slightly, but it's nice if you don't have to think of everything yourself.

In fact, ChatGPT is so advanced that you can now add screenshots, which is useful because it is a good sparring partner. As an example of the fictional beauty salon, I gave a list of questions that I would normally ask the owner. ChatGPT filled this in completely. If anything is unclear, you can ask for clarification, such as: "What is the idea behind the company name you came up with?" I make a design based on those answers.

Then I take a screenshot of the design and add it to ChatGPT, asking, "What do you think?" You often receive positive feedback and suggestions for improvements, for example: "I would do the outline a little differently here" or "This text is not easy to read, especially for the visually impaired." Sometimes you have to adjust a lot, sometimes only a little. It's almost like working with a real person, but you have to pay attention; ChatGPT can make mistakes, so you should always check carefully yourself.

It actually works very well. After creating the logo, I asked ChatGPT about the treatments the salon offers, the address, telephone number, opening hours, and for a bit about the owner himself. For a fictional site intended to supplement your portfolio, this is very useful. You don't have to do everything yourself and it is often fun to see what ChatGPT comes up with, after which you can make adjustments here and there.

This way I quickly received the texts for the site, and I therefore quickly had a logo, a business card and a website design ready. What I'm going to do now is to actually write the code for the site, to have additional examples for my portfolio. It's also just fun to keep busy.

What else can you use ChatGPT for?

For example, it is also very useful if you get stuck with programming. You can then ask a question and see if you can solve the problem. However, it is still AI, so there may be errors. It is important to read the explanation you receive carefully. ChatGPT often gives suggestions such as: "You can do this this way, and the reason is that this is how it works." It is important to understand what you have done.

There is sometimes the temptation to let an AI tool like ChatGPT write all the code, but that is not the intention. People sometimes think AI will replace them, but humans will always be needed to monitor the work. Computers are not 100% reliable.

So people will always be needed, at least I think so. I think they are useful tools; you can use them as sparring partners. If you're really stuck on a problem and can't get any further, you can ask ChatGPT for help. But even then it is not guaranteed that you will find the answer; often it is a combination of searching the internet, thinking and perhaps asking for help from ChatGPT.

So there are various options for which you can use it. For example, it can be useful for students to write essays or book reports. But is that so wrong? If I'm honest, there used to be sites with book excerpts. I read the books, but wasn't very good at writing, so I used bits of those excerpts to create my own texts for book reports. ChatGPT is actually not much different, except that some students use it incorrectly by copying everything indiscriminately.

The most important thing is to always do the final check yourself. The same applies to Google, for example; if you know how to use search engines, they are great tools.

Well, that's my explanation about ChatGPT. If you have any questions, please call or email me!
